Club News
Hello Friends and Fellow Rotarians.

At this time we are still suspending all in-person meetings of the Miamisburg Rotary Club. We will continue to monitor the guidance from Rotary International and our Rotary District Governor, but use our judgement on what is in the best interest of the Miamisburg Rotary Club members.

Recent guidance from Rotary International (RI) has strongly recommended that Districts and Clubs refrain from in-person Rotary meetings and events through  the end of this calendar year (12/31/2020). Several of our District’s Rotarians challenged the recommendation and asked the District for reconsideration. In response the District leadership conducted several virtual meetings with many District and Club leaders. Based on the feedback from these discussions, the District’s revised guidance is that all Clubs refrain from all in-person meetings or gatherings through July 1, 2020. The District is monitoring Ohio Governor DeWine’s and Director of Public Health Amy Acton’s guidance on social distancing requirements, face masks and limitations on size of group gatherings.

Here at the Miamisburg Rotary Club we are following the latest District guidance and have suspended all in-person meetings until after July 1. We will continue to assess the guidance from our Rotary leadership and state and local health experts in deciding when it is safe for us to meet in person once again. As soon as we have determined when to restart our weekly meetings at the Baum Opera House we will let all our members know, and update that information here as well.

When we make the decision to restart our weekly in-person meetings, we will be following the Rotary International requirements that:
  • The health and safety of all participants in Rotary programs, meetings, and events is of paramount importance
  • No in-person meeting or event shall be mandatory for any Rotary participant who may feel uncomfortable attending because of the pandemic
  • All conveners and organizers of Rotary meetings are strongly encouraged to consider all health concerns in deciding whether to hold in-person meetings
  • All conveners and organizers of Rotary meetings shall fully comply with all health and safety rules in effect in that location.

While we cannot met in person each week, we are having weekly meetings at our normal Wednesday Noon meeting time using the Zoom virtual meeting capability. Our members are being provided the connection information but if you would like to join us, please let me know.

These are difficult times for many people, and our lives are being impacted in ways we may not yet realize. Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones.

Thank you for your understanding and God Bless.

Unfortunately our Annual Charitable Auction that was scheduled for April 25th has also been postponed due to the COVID-19 shutdown of all Rotary meetings and events. However it is still our plans to hold the auction as soon as practical after we again start meeting in person. The information below tells what we can expect when we can meet and have the auction again. We look forward to seeing you there.

Everyone loves going to auctions, right!  So what better way to raise money for charity.  The Rotary Auction will take place at the Baum Opera House, in the upstairs room.  Tickets will include dinner and chance to win door prizes.  Cash Bar.  In years past the auction has been loads of fun, and a great way to raise money for either, the Rotary Foundation, Polio Plus or Miamisburg Charitable Trust.  As a winning bidder, you get to choose which one, or all three charities receive your donation.

If that is not enough.... Donations over $1000 automatically allow you to become a Paul Harris Fellow.  Look for more details in the very near future.
